Are you making the most of your space? Do you feel that everything is crammed in? Do you feel that your walls are caving-in on you? Read on for some design tips>>>>>>>>
10 Ways to make your room feel larger (making the most of a small room).
1.Take the flooring up as a skirting - see picture right. Alernatively, paint the skirting in a similar colour to the floor.
- 2. Put lamps in the corner to make this dead space interesting.
- 3.Use directional downlighters in the ceiling to illuminate the walls (not the floor). This opens out the walls. Can also illuminate a picture - see photo.>
- 4.Paint walls in similar colour to bulky furniture - this helps loose the bulkiness - i.e. sofa.
- 5. Use horizontal stripe wallpaper (or paint) to widen a room.
6. Paint walls in a cool colour (blue, lilac, aqua) to recede walls. (Warm colours bring walls forward.
7. Wallpaper walls in a trellis or trailing plant design - this tricks the eye to looking through. This wallpaper is by Osborne and Little. Try also Crowson.
8. Keep furniture the same heights if possible. Less busyness is soothing to the eye.
9. Use a monochromatic scheme - one colour with tones -lighter and darker. Opens out a room.
10. Allow natural light to flood in. Extend curtain poles to either side of windows. (Clean windows)!
Plenty more but that will do for now!
